The Imaging and Analysis Center (IAC) utilizes an on-line, Web-based Instrumentation Sign-up System (WISS) for instrumentation reservation.
This system allows researchers with Internet access to book time on IAC instrumentation 24 hours a day from any location in the world. Users must have a username and password assigned to use this system. This information is assigned after the completion of a training course provided by the IAC. The NEW user is allowed to access the instrument Monday through Friday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM while the regular assistance is available. The users should submit the request to the IAC director if they need to access an instrument "after hours" while the regular assistance is not available. The extra support to accommodate this will be provided. Please review our instrument rates. You also have an option of selecting an assisted usage to our instruments.
Time slots on IAC instruments may be reserved by any authorized users on a first come, first served basis. However, efficient use of the instrumentation requires that users refrain from reserving time which they do not subsequently use. Users who are unable to use a time slot which they have reserved are obliged to cancel the reservation via WISS at their earliest convenience (at the very latest, by the starting time of the reserved slot). Otherwise, users may be billed the full instrument charge for any unused, but uncancelled, reservation. A reserved slot will be considered unused, and made available to others, if the user who reserved the slot has not arrived within the first 20 minutes of the reserved period. If a user finishes prior to the end of the reserved slot, it is not necessary to cancel the remainder of the reservation.
No instrument may be booked more than two weeks ahead of time with the exception of bookings for teaching, training, and IAC related service. Each user is limited to two reserved slots (each slot ≤ X hours, where X is an integer which depends on the instrument) during prime time (8:30am - 5:30pm, Monday-Friday) per instrument per week so that a number of people can access each instrument during prime time in any given week. Users who require additional time are encouraged to reserve slots outside prime time (no limit on slots outside prime time), or to use the instrument during periods when it has not been reserved (first come, first served). Users who require exceptionally long contiguous blocks of time for their work (especially users traveling here from a distance), or who must book more than two weeks in advance, should contact the IAC director so that the necessary time can be reserved.
